Light deprivation, an organic tale in mid Michigan 2020

So do mix a quart of 34% h2o2 with 3 quarts of water or do you make 3% quarts out of the 34% and mix that?

Interesting and def gonna give it a try.
Bud rot is the worst.

Hey man… No I dilute the 34% hydrogen peroxide… 34% diluted down to 3%…So 1 1/4 cup of 34% to 3 qts of water. …
I focus on the infrared side not the UVB side. I have 10K lights that I use for the UV side that sufficient. I’m looking for stretch. The UVB side keeps the plants squatty but it doesn’t give you much vegetation growth. The 730 to 780 nm Side will give you more veg growth and stretch. Thats what I want in my grow.
I get my short and squatty by pulling the plant over and training techniques like LST / EST super cropping tying the ground. I get a can a much bigger crop than adding more UVB.

Thinning and trimming the girls.

I’ve neglected my trimming and manicuring duties this last week. Monday I had three wisdom teeth pulled out and I really haven’t felt like doing a whole lot anything and still really don’t but it has to be done.
The one wisdom tooth took a full 30 minutes to get out. As it was wrapped around my jaw bone and to be cut away… Ugh…

Now 2 weeks into flowering. I started trimming and re manipulating the plant as some of them have pulled up they’re tie downs and are no longer held down tightly. Sometimes I underestimate the strength of these plants and their willingness to pull themselves towards the Sun.

I started with the sage and sour before I took pictures early in the morning.

Sage n sour.

the sage n sour is now opened up underneath the canopy now allowing good airflow. This will help stop with any type of fungus that may try to take hold.

The rest of the crop before trimming and remanipulating at 2 week’s into flowering.

Not much room left over after thinning and trimming also some
re-manipulating of the girls.

Its now 2 day’s after trimming and 2 weeks n 3 day’s into flowering. The Dragon blood hp is almost to the roof of the cage. The og fire has grown-up bigger than I had thought she would.

The daily tea was slowed down to a stop do to all the rain we’ve had here. One storm filled all 460 gallons of rain water collection system… then there was 2 more stroms after that. Plenty of water.

Pics after trimming and
re-manipulating.

organic tea foliar spraying starts up again first thing in the morning as I’m brewing a batch of Boogie Brew enhanced with C90 rare trace minerals and extra worm castings tea

The flowering is in full swing. All plants responding to the light depth. The blueberry cookies the dragon blood HP silver haze and Triple Threat Silver Haze are all showing large amounts of bud sign.
All the plants are showing good bud sign sage and sour two unknowns mango HP OG fire White Widow Hawaiian Maui waui and Chem Barry D. I expect to harvest the first crop within the next 6 weeks.

So this weekend I’m adding 3 to 4 plants into the flowering cage. To start light deprivation with crop 2. I’m not sure if I can get them all in there as these plants have overgrown my expectations already. I hadn’t figured in such a short time they would grow as big as they’ve grown…the OG fire and the Dragon Blood have both grown humongous. But I have some space left but it’s not very good choice of spaces. hopefully the plants will fit in there and they won’t be too crowded. These pics are of the next stage crop that is projected to Harvest around August 10th.

thanks for stopping by and checking out my organic grow

Well I was afraid of this. Them 315 CMH lights really can grow a plant big and fast. 100% faster than the t5 thought of doing it.
So the 2 plants that I had in my inside grow room grew much bigger than my expectations. And I do not have enough room inside the outside grow cage to put these two plants in. So I found another place in my yard to put them in. I bought some fence 6 ft tall by 50 ft long galvanized livestock fence to cage them with. But having a hard time finding posts that are treated and 2x4 that are treated. I may have to buy regular construction grade untreated wood for my outside projects. What treated wood I did find at the 4 big box lumber stores we have here in my town. The prices are almost three times as much as they was three months ago ugh!!! crazy times we live in.

So I dug some big ass holes way deeper than I needed to to put these pots in I wanted to make sure I had enough my good composted soil all around the new potted plant for this transplant. The pics are of yesterday right after transplanting and this morning when I went out they look better than they did and so I believe my transplant was super successful. As they we’re both up praying towards the Sun that hadn’t even popped in the sky yet.

Thanks for stopping and hanging out with me

Treated lumber around an organic grow defeats all the work .

Yeah well that’s the way it gos bud.

I’m not that organic…Like I told you in the beginning of this thread …
I’m 99.9%. Organic…

I don’t try to waste any money…
The rest of my posts are all ancient free wood. Natural pallet wood. As I used to work in Big Industry where a lot of large Lumber and Timbers were used to move big machinery…

So These treated post are temporary post only to be a used for temporary for these plant… Becuase they don’t belong there. I had to have room for them to grow…as they don’t fit in my grow cage.

The new treated post will actually go for my new fence this fall.

But thanks for pointing that out. Maybe somebody will read it and help them to figure out whatever.

Same with my grow I could never be certified organic because I have galvanized chain link all around my garden . The treated post leach a lot of chemicals into the surrounding soil . Have a good one bud .

I just came back from uncovering the cage. And thought I’d take some night bud pics while I was there.

The smells are starting to come on now. So many differences.

We had a bit of rain here the last 2 nights. But I’ve had the cage coverd so the girls didnt get wet.
I gave the girl’s40 gallons of rain water this morning no tea.
Tomorrow I’ll make some tea for Thursday morning watering.

Thanks… Yes I have a friend that does a permaculture grow up by Mount Pleasant Michigan. and he was telling me what it takes to be certified organic for growing vegetables…
I am topped out…I’m as organic as I’ll ever be…LoL

I almost think I can hear some of the budswelling. The girls They’re drinking a lot of water now. 100+ gallons this week already.
All the rain I got from the last rain on Monday is all gone already. Glad I’ve got the new 240 gallons tank plus 2 55gallon rain barrels and a 36 gallon trash can. LoL… Not having to use filtered city water as I use to have to for years this time of year to mid August as my rain collection system was to small at 210 gallons to make it from rain to rain in the summer time.

The blueberry cookies buds are swelling at a good rate as well as the Dragon blood hp. The silver haze is looking real nice also

Started 4 week of flower today…
It’s all down hill from here. Most plants will harvest by 7/28.

Doing the final big defoliation this week. After this week the only trimming I’ll do until harvest will just a few wild ones here and there.

It’s been hot and humid here in the grow cage over the last 2 weeks. Temps are in the upper 80s to 93°f so far and humidity as been in the 65% to the upper 80% even over 90%
No rain for 8 day’s now.
The girl’s have been drinking there share of the stored rain water. Totaling over the last 9 day’s 187 gallons of uses.
I’ve got about 180 gallons left to make it to the next rain. BUT NO RAIN IN THE 6 DAY FORECAST… ugh…

At 5 week’s into flowering today in the light depth grow cage. All plant’s are in full flower now… I believe the Blueberry cookies will be the 1 st to finish within 3 weeks.

All is good… BUT … On the Somango plant the day before yesterday I found 1 colon with… BUD ROT…!!!..3 tightly packed buds had biult up the green heat inside them and the GRAY BLACK set in…

So… immediate action must be taken.

Action…

I got the 34% hydrogen peroxide and I mixed up a strong batch of H202 in my 1/2 gallon hand sprayer. Mixed at 2 oz HP to 4 cups of water… This is very strong. (It’s the kind of strength that can semi burn your hands if left on for too long.) But this will not harm the plant… after mixing I sprayed infected area on the colon real well. Making sure to spray in between all effected buds and surrounding areas and the ground underneath the colon. To kill all the spores first.

Now to snip out the infected buds.
Take the trimming shears and snip out all the infection and place the infected buds and other material in a plastic sandwich bag for disposal. Now Spraying the h202 as needed to kill and wash away all the black n gray on the left over stalk and buds. Also you may want to lightly spray your clothing to insure you killed all the spores before moving away from the plant so not to spred the spores to other plants…

The key to this procedures is to catch it as early as possible. The earlier you can catch the dreaded Bud rot the easier it is to stop it in its tracks…

So now the surgery is complete there needs to be precautions to place so loose can we avoided again. I added 3 fans at ground level underneath the canopies. To help move more air and to help keep the humidity down and cool the under canopy. Keeping it dry and cool will help a lot to prevent Bud rot and powdery mildew.
Finally I sprayed the entire crop with 1/2 strength Green Cure a natural fungicide made up of potassium bicarbonate all natural and earth safe. It kills mold on contact. And is completely harmless to everything els But mold and powdery mildew…

Happy growing
