Return to growing after almost 20 years..

Hello OG!
I am an old school grower who stopped back in 2008. I learned to grow right here on overgrow.com back in 2003-4ish. My My My how things have changed… which include the laws in the state I live in now. So I thought. What the hell let’s do it! So here I am.

Seeds:
Started with two seeds One Wedding Cake and the other one Gorilla glue.
I have two other seeds of thousands I have collected in 35 years so I planted two of them random things as well. If they flower I should be able to tell what they strain they are. They are small little bushes so I am leaning to some kind of indica strain.

Soil and grow medium:
I did a lot of research on whether to do hydro or soil grow and I found something simple wonderful… Oh my! Octopods… They aren’t cheap but what you get is a hybrid soil and hydro. Watching the roots take over in the bottom of the pods in just 20 days is amazing! Watching these things grow inches by the day shows what a good way to grow in these octapods. I might make my own version of them maybe not we will see after harvest. I am not trying to create more work for myself. The 3-gallon version is what I am working with.
Being the first time doing a hydro soil hybrid I didn’t want to F up with the soil. So I used what was suggested and that was summer mix #4. I will be able to duplicate this in the future with my own soil mix but again I got 12cft of it so it will be a while.

Nutrients : I am from the school of less is more with cannabis. I did the research and settled with TPS one. You can do veg to flowering with this stuff. Works well with Hybrid growing. There are different products you can use at this time and at this time and at this time but why waste all that money if one thing can do it all. I don’t want to be a chemist… I just want to have a decent harvest and to get high

Lights:
This is where I have seen the biggest changes in growing cannabis. God Bless the folks who got all this LEDS stuff to work. I no longer have to use HPS lights to try and burn down my house @ a $300.00 electric bill a month. After doing research I went with three Abriselux A2000 LED Grow Light Dimmable with 5x4ft Coverage and Upgraded Larger Board, Full Spectrum Grow Lamps for Indoor Hydroponic Growing Light with High PPFD (Actual Power 200Watt). I cant say how happy I have been with these lights and at $160.00 a piece… that is cheap in my book! Never mind the energy savings!

Location:
Indoors, in garage, in a 5x5 tent. I have a GE ac windows unit that also dehumidifier and the air is pumped out one of the holes in the tent using an exit hose and out a vent on the side of the house that I installed. The AC unit was the most expensive piece of this whole thing at $349.00.

H-A-P-P-Y R-E-T-U-R-N!!! You didn’t miss a Beat, adapted beautifully to the modern “Cannabis Game”. Your plants look lovely, I like the "“keep it simple approach”. If you would be so kind, please clear a spot in the far right corner of the Garage, I’ll hang out there and watch the show, Continued success, stay safe, take special care, and be well…mister :honeybee: :100:

Welcome to OG 2.0. @Gravitys-Rainbow You might find this thread interesting.
Octopot Grow System
I just ordered eight six gallon octopots myself. There are other people here already using them and getting great results.

I didn’t know about octopot system. I’m thinking I might be a little too eager to try to next grow. Lol

Get ready for those 4 plants to fill that 5x5. I would suggest a net of some sorts.

Depending how long you veg them they can get quite large. I did one plant that I vegged for 5 to 6 weeks. Final haul at cutting was 15 oz. And I wasn’t trying for that haha. I fucked up the feeding schedule and everything. So just a warning, many others here have vast expertise in the octopots. Them will chime in and give some advice.

Good luck and glad to see you growing again.

Thanks for the feedback. I had a monster grow one time on me. Had to bend that sucker over and tie it down to keep it from growing into the lights. Funny 15oz was exactly what i got off that plant too! They like to double size during veg dont they. Can’t imagine how big they will get with the octopots. I Just topped off the two large plants last night and depending on how much they grow by this weekend I will probably flip them then to 12/12. Daughter is coming to help later this week and we are going put up the netting then. She wants to learn and i get some free labor

Welcome back! I’m paddling the same boat as you and trying a lot of new things after a very long layoff. Having some growing pains, but feels good to be at it once again. Best of luck with your grow✌🏻

Good to see indoor growers from 20 years ago getting back into it. Ahh the “golden age” of indoor cultivation imo. Spending my spare coin on the newest bulb or additive.

Such a change from 90s outdoor growing.

Some nice genetics you got going too. I love Home grown GG#4.

This is exactly how I feel! I wasn’t sure how I would feel going in since this is my first grow about that initially, but I figured out really quickly I’m along the same line of thought, I’m not trying to do a whole bunch of extra stuff, I just want to grow basics. Welcome back to OG, I haven’t been around long so it feels weird saying that to a former member lol

Welcome back, nice setup. I’ve heard great things about Octo pots. I hope everything goes good for you. I was on the old site as well,… Great to have OG 2.0 up and running. Times have changed.

I have grown cannabis before with no nutes just plain old tap water and soil it did ok… It does need a little punch but so many things can go wrong in my opinion switching from this to that to this and that… Maybe get a oz more from the plant? BTW I think you live near me Steven

So these pics are from the last 20 days. I meant to get on here earlier but I couldn’t find the time. I will make regular updates to it going forward.,
