LilJonB's Hopscotch Grow

So the males actually look like balls when they start.
I never kept males long enough to watch them develop. I was always looking for pitols. If they didn’t have pistols a week after the others began to show they were given away or culled.

Anyone ever have a plant that is just a cluster f#!k? This Gelato auto has branches and leaves going every which direction. I took the big fan leaves off to get light to the rest of the plant. Even the small branches got branches. I think I’m going to see if they grow out of there way before I go at them. I know autos can get stressed out easily so I wont do to much at one time.

I had a sativa learner with nodes as tight as a butthole. Was hard to do anything with her. She just got more bushy.

I’m just going to take a little bit here and there. Hopefully the bottom branches will come out a little more there just stacked so close. There practically on top of each other. I figured I would have more practice with a plant like this after my last grow but this is a whole other level. Lol. Sheesh.

I start 12/12 its its normally a week to 10 days. This time it took about 17 days, I topped then flipped a few days later and they wouldn’t start flowering until the tops grew out, my mistake. I rushed into flower to get done for a spring start.

Flower time, means I’m right on time. Looking good around here. I’m waiting for sex to show on my first regs atm. Adds a fun wrinkle to veg.

Yuppers. Glad to have you @Eagles009 .

Damn. That sucks. I don’t think I will top any more unless I have a stubborn ass plant. The small Hopscotch came close because of how stocky it is. I couldn’t manipulate it the way I would like. But we we’re getting along atm.

Envy a and envy b, two part mix. They had a problem with the formula last batch and didn’t restock. Hopefully that’s over with. I bought Cali pro flower to get me by, way more expensive and doesn’t feed veg.
I used to put bat gauno in and it would bubble up the sides of buckets , and leave a mess, but I could tell the diff in growth and strength and taste. I’ll start doing that soon.

I don’t think I will be putting bat poo in my buckets anytime soon. Lol. I’m new to hydro and will stay away from the organics in my buckets. I will be sticking with GH for a while. Unless @JoeCrowe can give me his secret recipe. I am thinking about switching to GH Maxi to cut out that brown color from the Micro. There’s not much staining going on with the roots that are in the water but it seems like it likes to collect at the water line. But from my understanding is that you need extra supplements. I can’t remember what they were.
Hey @HolyAngel was it you that was using GH Maxi 2 part?

This thread got super long. No one is going to wanna touch it in the future. Hehe. I get intimidated by big threads. Kinda like a book. Once you start it your kinda invested. Even if its kinda bad. We gotta spice it up a little.
Well its not going to happen today. Everything is same as yesterday. Nothing new to report. I did try to give the Bluberry auto a ml of Cal-Mag and FloraMicro. The FloraMicro has a rating of 5-0-1 so I figured that would be best for nitrogen. I would have thought the FloraGrow would have been the one with the most nitrogen since it is used the most in the vegetation stage but it has a rating of 2-1-6. Did I go about that right? The container was a weight gaining supplement so I’m wondering if there is trace chemicals leaching out of the plastic. I cleaned the hell out of that thing. Didn’t use much detergent so I don’t think that’s a possibility. I will be picking up another container today to see if that will make a difference.
I will also be adding co2 to the tent using sugar yeast and water. Seems like the plants are slowing down a lil bit.

I wasn’t saying anything negative about topping, I just didn’t give her enough time to grow out before I flipped to 12/12. I do use a CO generator I got from Amazon. They’re pads w/ hanger to put in tent above grow. Spray with water and hang. Good for 10-14 days. Turn off ventilation during though, obviously. I feel ya on the manipulation of plants, those stalks get so thick they do what the want. Keep it up man.

I enjoy long threads as there is so much to learn. Smaller threads that are older I stray away from.

Hey! Yes I have been using the Maxi line of nutes lately and really enjoying them.

Maxigrow for veg, Maxibloom for flower. Technically you can do only Maxibloom the entire way start to finish, but I have better luck in veg with lower ppms using maxigrow instead of the bloom, for what it’s worth. I haven’t needed over 1/2 tsp of either one per gallon in hydro, if you’re in soil you may need up to 1 tsp per gallon but shouldn’t ever need more than that.

The only supplement you NEED with the maxi line, is some type of calmag product. I’ve been using GH’s CaliMagic without issue. I would however, recommend picking up some type of silica product too. That’s the only other nute I use and I’m using GH’s ArmorSI for that, but a lot of people use Protekt and some others.

I use armorsi once twice a week. It seems to help keep things to a minimum. Problems don’t seem to explode as fast.

Oh yeah. I know. I was just stating that I practically got the same result I was looking for training the way I did it this time around. I saved about a whole week of grow time between not growing them in soil and transferring them into DWC. Plus topping. I would have to grow another 2 weeks at least to get the same amount of growth. The reason why I said a week is because these Hopscotch seems to be fast growing.

Thanks. I was scratching my head thinking if it was you or not. I will be running with Maxi next. Not only will it keep my roots white but shipping should be cheaper. I just got a bottle of Flora Bloom and the shipping was double the price.

  • Armor Si improves plant structure and foliar development, increases yield and improves flower and fruit production

Got me sold. Im sure all products claim to improve your grow. Cures your sick dog too! Do you do half doses on this as well? When you add this are you concerned about you PPMs getting too high and have to adjust everything else you put in?

Its been a few days since I posted full pics of the plants. After looking back 3 days ago it looks like they grew allot more then I thought.

Its a damn jungle in there.

Bigger Hopscotch. No pistols as of yet. It looks like I’m going to have to go back in and take more branches here soon in a couple of days.
this should be the last time I bend her down to fill up that part of the tent. I thing this will be the 5th time. I have been taking about every other set of branches on the way down.

This is the smaller Hopscotch. I really like the way this one is growing. It would be a shame if it was a male. I like the structure.

This is the Gelato auto. The leave are sharp looking. I don’t know how I feel about it. Not very pretty looking. I hope the buds a prettier. I can tell the leaves are changing the way there growing since she began flowering.

Blueberry Auto. She’s doing allot better and looking allot nicer since I gave her 1ml of Cal-Mag and Flora Micro. Its funny because at first I had to back off the nutes brought it down from 800 to 350. Then it wasn’t enough. Now they are a little under 900 PPM. Autos are very picky I’m learning. I’m rethinking running different autos in one DWC. I might just do 6 3gal buckets.
