LilJonB's Hopscotch Grow

2 runs ago. Last run had the root clogging issue

I donā€™t normally recommend H202 in regular circumstances but I will in @Hoppy 's case. If there is something feeding on his roots the H202 will fix it.
Your grows look good @BIGJ.

I should clarify a little, Most of the h2o2 is used during cleaning, I usually dose the buckets a day before I do a water change , clean them out and start fresh. Too much will keep all Bacteria out even the beneficial

Unless your organic there is no benefital bacteria needed. The nutrients we use is salts so bacteria dose not need to break down stuff into nutrients for the plant to be used. I went through all this my last run. I thought the same thing.

@BIGJ
Iā€™m an ILGM import as well.
Iā€™m eventually going hydro so Iā€™ll be setting to watch your grow. Thanks for putting it out there.

I have one going as well. If you wish to, your more than welcome to join in the conversation. I know Itā€™s not as interesting as most. Iā€™m on my second grow and, probably, experimenting a little too much but Iā€™m having a great time at it. Iā€™m a glutton for knowledge as well.

Hey @HolyAngel when using coco how often do you flush to rid excess salt build up?

So farā€¦ Iā€™m not at all. No flushing of the coco whatsoever. I water till thereā€™s a decent run off(20+%) and I water every day in flower regardless if the pot is dry or not.

In the table itā€™s bottom fed flood and drain and I donā€™t touch them.

Every day watering??? I was assuming that coco holds a lot of water, so when I used it, I would always let it dry like a day or two between waterings. That was my very first grow several yrs ago. May have been another reason added to the list of what went wrong. Haha. That was one shitty grow with not a very big harvest.

My cousin is running coco. Iā€™m going to run one in coco of to the side my next run.

As long as there is proper drainage, water passing over the roots helps oxygenate the soil or media and in my experience (1 time) in coco does not hold water well. And cal mag sponge. Rinse and Pre soak in cal mag solution

This is the first time hearing this. The books Iā€™ve read say the opposite. But I fully understand that if itā€™s not text book itā€™s an opinion. Iā€™m happy to hear what everyone has to say.

Maybe it was me but I didnā€™t care for it. Itā€™s damn near hydro so why not just go hydro was my thought , and the cal mag issues I had , constantly adding , I know people who love it. Just not for me.

The plus for me is you donā€™t have to worry about you res getting to hot. My buckets last summer were in the 80s f.

Coco definitely holds water like a sponge if you donā€™t aerate it. I do 50/50 coco and perlite and yes, every day watering till ~20% run-off. The constant watering aerates the roots and clears out the pot from buildup so you get quicker growth

The table waters every 3 hours and the plants show it. Iā€™ve had double the growth on the same strain between bottom watering every 3 hours in the table vs hand watering once a day. Same exact nutes.

When you guys say 20% run off do you mean 20% of the size container?

Iā€™m thinking thatā€™s what they meant. I always try to get good run off keeps the plants healthier and prevents a lot of problems from happening.

Thanks @ShiskaberrySavior.

Iā€™m dropping the seeds in the mail tomorrow guys. Think itā€™s safe to drop them all in the mailbox all at once or should I split them up and drop 5 tomorrow and 5 Tuesday?

The germination test so far for the Hopscotch ant bad. Half of them popped. They just took a little longer then I would have liked.
Same thing with the Forest Candy except all popped but 2. 2 out of 6 for 5 year old seeds is good in my book. Iā€™m still going to try to make fems from them soon.

Wow guys I missed a lot. My bucket had about three inches of air and Iā€™m running an air stone. I dont know the brand of air pump, it has two outlets that I tied together into one tube to the stone. The cal mag upped the ph from 5.7 to 7.0 as soon as I added the recommended amount per gallon, 2 3/4 gallons in a 3 1/2 gallon bucket. I left it alone for a day then checked the ph it was 4.5 so I added a few dropped of ph up and it went to 9.0. The stunting and root issue started a week ago or more. She was flourishing. I changed the water once didnā€™t boost her. She drank about a 1/4 gallon ppm were 640-680 prior to water change. Idk if it was the ph up or not but the roots were slick as were my fingers from being in the water. And @LilJonB my flowers were 1/2 oz dry and they werenā€™t near as big as yours.
