Micro Octopot Grow

Here are my plants at day 30 I think. Im super happy with these micro octos. I decided to go without the auto fill that grouchy came up with, and I’m regretting it because I’m filling these things up everyday at this point!

My plants are almost emptying the res in like 8 hours! Getting a little bit tricky with a full time job lol Auto fill is a must!!

They can be empty for a day with no problem

Yeah, @Papalag is spot on with that. I’ve had res go dry for 2 days, but there so much humidity in the res the plants are ok.

Ditto :arrow_double_up:.
My observation is that, as long as they are healthy, when the pot gets low/empty, the roots get a huge hit of oxygen and as long as the humidity keeps them from drying out, they seem to enjoy it.

Just my $0.02,

PS, @420Ghost, So Dood, get techi, set up your autofiller! You’ve got all the pieces don’t you? Get a big rez and you can mix a batch once a week and chill… :robot:

Good to know thank you!

That’s good to know I was really worried that the plants were going to suffer from having roots exposed for too long.

I do have all the pieces, I just got nervous that there might be leaks, and that the lines might get gunked up. I’m off of work tomorrow and will hopefully have it set up. I have to drill a hole thru a wall into an adjacent closet where I’ll be keeping the res and control bin. Not enough room for them in my grow closet

I know, annoying to retro-fit into an existing grow, right?

If you can pull it off, you’ll be happy. Leaks are one thing I haven’t had to worry about. The pressure is so low, no worries.

I forget what nutes you are using but you won’t likely clog the pipes. Again, the low pressure and volumes aren’t especially prone to clogging. You’ll want to do a thorough plumbing flush after harvest.

Beautiful grow BTW!

Sometimes when you re-use soil from a previous seed run, to transplant rosemary cuttings in your kitchen… :joy:

@420Ghost how are those plants doing now? How wet is your soil? Drinking that whole res in less than a day seems abnormal. But they looked damn good in the last pick… maybe they are just going to be enormous!!

Great thread. Thanks to all of you.
If I want to have something similar, I have to make it completely myself. The nearest octopot or octopup is thousands kilometers away.
Can anyone tell what the purpose of this opening is? Is it opening? Air exchange?

Thanks

The option , for electrical wires , airlines , feed line , sensor wire etc I would assume

Thank you @ifish
And it’s open, right?
I ask because I have to decide how well the lid will fit the tank.
If that hole is open and I replicate it, am I free to make the lid seal on the reservoir?

I would assume so but I am not an octo guy , just up early this morning across the pond ( eu )

Lid I’m sure is just regular lid , no need for fancy air tight seal , lids job is just to stop stuff fallin into Rez ( leafs etc ) and to cut out most of light

People suggest noooo air stone in Rez butt maybe an airline to give fresh cool air into air space , not in feed ( air exchange ) might be nice ??? But probably not worth the effort or electric for what you gain , if anything

: )

Yes looks permanently open
