New Jersey Poll Marijuana

And just like that we had another Jersey gang member?

I followed this very closely for years before it was even put to a vote and I think this was a misunderstanding by some people. I was griping with others about how home grow wasn’t part of the vote before it even occurred. Home grow was never on the table, although I could certainly understand how many who voted would think it was included. Fuck these politicians but there was no bait and switch here, just shitty revenue grabbing bullshit.

It was an easy misunderstanding to make. Every other liberal state in the nation that’s legalized it has followed the same template; legalized for medical use, then legalized for recreational use, and homegrow with 6 plants for 1 person or 12 for 2. I don’t think it was too much of an assumption to make to think that NJ would follow the same path, and I still don’t. They’re just dragging their feet, half because they simply don’t want to and would rather just tax the hell out of it… but also half just because they’re politicians. They can’t say hello without seventeen compromises and a blackmail attempt. As far as something like this, where they think they have their hands on all the tax money from the illegal market that’s ignored all attempts to stamp it out for decades? We see it with every decision they make, this one is no different despite hitting a little closer to home.

Oh yeah absolutely. I’m just saying that as scummy as they are/were with their approach there was no bait and switch on homegrow like was suggested.

Except the original version of the bill, which you directed me to online at one point, said that it was allowed to gift people “immature plants” i.e. clones… perhaps they were working towards a version that included homegrow at first, and then decided that it was too complex to address with the same framework of laws that every other liberal state has used and to remove it with the current bill. As for why it’s too complex for NJ while it works for everyone else? Uh… quick, look over there at all the shiny social equity! Don’t you want it?

Technically, I guess, it wasn’t a bait and switch since there was never any explicit mention of homegrowing or campaigning on the subject. Still, if you took a poll before the legalization vote, I bet most people would’ve thought they were voting for a whole legalization package like the other legal states have. Does it help that the politicians didn’t encourage that belief, but merely took advantage of it for political points? I don’t think so, personally.

Yeah I don’t know why that was in there. I know the original medical bill passed under Chrispy Creme Christie was supposed to include homegrow for patients too but they struck it.

Alright, apparently i’m FOS with my understanding of what was in the original NJ bill. Guess i was wrong on my interpretation of what it included. Guess i listened to bad info… my apologies. Hope i didnt annoy those who knew better…

But i stand by my comment “Fuck NJ”… lol

That one, I think we can all agree with. :stuck_out_tongue: Even if they have the best intentions, which I doubt, politics in NJ are a corrupt bureaucratic mess and it takes forever to get anything done. Granted, that describes politics everywhere… but I’m on board saying NJ is worse.

Not at all. I was just clarifying. All good in the hood.

The mafia did this!

Uh… I think the mafia is less corrupt… They at least have a code of honor…

Being selfish, and having grown up in NJ, I dearly wish that the thoroughly corrupt powers that be at the helm of NJ will accede to the tax paying voters, and enable them to grow some plants without penalty.
My youngest sister has some nice property in Warren County. And I would really like to spend some of my few remaining summers up there growing some fine ganja in the incredibly rich and nurturing soil again. Is this too much to hope for?

I wouldn’t bank on that code of honor too hard

One can dream. I see homegrow as unavoidable at some point, it’s just a matter of when. The argument against homegrow for registered patients on the MMP is nonexistent. They can’t keep pretending they care about patients or low income communities and not let patients grow. Everyone should be able to of course but seeing as it’s Jersey it’s gotta be “finessed”.

They’ve already admitted to shortages and high prices in the program as well as the difficulty some patients may have travelling to our few and far between dispos. They allowed delivery but no dispo with a line out the door is going to bother. There’s 3 reasons right there to let them grow. Add in the therapeutic argument for homebound patients and the fact that they’re already registered with the state and there’s no argument against it. The second anyone is allowed to grow it makes it easier to argue that everyone should be able to. Shitty it has to be piecemealed but it is NJ.

You in Jersey?

I was in AC the weekend AFTER. ugh. .38 Special at Ocean. Couldnt spark a joint in the venue, security was that tight, but its really interesting to go out on the terraces and see more weed than cigs being smoked these days. Last time I went there was a guy with a glass piece just outside the front doors on the boardwalk level. I chuckled, thinking I would never see that in my lifetime in jersey…

I can tell you in about ten minutes lol

Breakwater grows fantastic weed. Their Kush 4 is my favorite strain in the state, most euphoric smoke ever. I picked this over that because it’s new so I wanted to try it out. It’s Gelato Jet Fuel x Legend Orange Apricot.
