Got my wife’s family visiting so I’ve been a little absent the past couple days, but yesterday was day 1 of 12/12, stoked to get things firing off here:
In other news I smoked my first brisket today, put it on last night at like 10, and woke up compulsively with no alarm at like 2:30am to check temps and wrap it etc. ended up being up from 2:30-6am then fell asleep till like 8am. A little torched from lack of sleep but it tasted amazing. @BeagleZ hopefully this isn’t an embarrassment to a proper BBQ man:
Thanks homie! Got some yellow tips and whatnot in the mix in the tent, but at this point I feel like I can ride whatever out to get some headstash going, wanna put this run to bed quickly enough to get going on the deep winter grow. Likely a seed run of some kind
Brisket looks delicious. I’ve considered getting a smoker for a few years now, but I’m always like,”Do I really wanna
Haha. Maybe I’ll just be sure to do a lot of drugs whenever I cook and then I don’t even have to worry about waking up throughout the night to check the smoker.
Plants look good, too haha. I like how you pre-staked them. I always wait until multiple branches have snapped off before I’m like,”Okay… Alright… I guess I’ll stake these plants…” haha.
I say go for it man! I use mine all the time even just for grilling burgers and shit. The waking up to check it thing is just my anal retentive nature coming through. I was cooking for my wife’s family and worried about fucking the brisket up by not wrapping it at the right time etc. so I think my mind was just on high alert, you definitely don’t have to be as compulsive as I am hahaha.
As far as the staking goes I think I borrowed some tech from this commercial grower on IG called eastcoasterdam. He stakes his plants less as a way to support them and more to open them up and increase bud-sites without using a SCROG and having the plants locked into one spot, so far seems to be working, but there are a fuck-load of eye pokers on that tent now
Plants and brisket in one post! Hell ya! Everything is moving right along. Excited to tag along on your journey! What ever happened to the Blue Tara? Inquiring minds want to know. Wishing you many witty, and intelligent things to say while your in-laws are in town.
Happy Labor Day Duder!
Thanks brother! The blue tara is in the veg tent in a 1 gal pot. She’s vegging S-L-O-W, I was gonna ask @Oldjoints if that was his experience with his Blue Tara plants, I know bubba has a reputation for vegging really slow. I’m thinking i might just toss her into the flower tent if there’s space once the big gals show me just how big they’re gonna get if there’s some room for her
That is a legit fear of mine. That I’m gonna stab my eye out on a a fucking stupid stick lol. I’m tempted to put ping pong balls on the ends of my stakes.
The anxiety is real, I did see the other day some company making like silicone ends for stakes, but yea, ping pong balls or some styrofoam seems like the cheaper route
Yes! I think some version of that is what I saw too. It’ll probably take a close call for me to drop in on those. I did see some folks suggesting you just stick marshmallows on the ends but that feels like an invitation for pests right?
Jesus Christ, man, how much is everybody here drinking? Haha! Y’all are worried about falling onto a stake and poking your eye out? I’ve been drinking like a case a day lately and that thought hasn’t ever crossed my mind.
So thanks for giving me something else to worry about… haha! Just kidding. I’m definitely not worried about poking an eye out on a stake.
If I’m smoking brisket, I’m definitely getting up in the middle of the night to make sure that shit’s smoking properly. I care about meat too much haha.
For real though, I got the brisket at a local butcher that I try to get all my meat from, it’s situated right on a farm where they raise the beef, you could basically pick your dinner out the field, so I was hell bent on not fucking it up.
On the eye poking tip, I just know that I couldn’t pull off an eyepatch
Whats up y’all, quick little update before I get out to work this morning. Everyone is doing good, still some burnt tips here and there, which I assume had to do with the little bit of watering imbalance they had at the start there, but I’ve been monitoring things and everyone seems to be drinking and growing fine.
So far the #1 pheno of the old smuggler has my eye for her nice even structure. No smells yet, not a surprise there. But what is a pleasant surprise is this:
Six days from cutting clones we’ve got roots from all 3 plants, I’m very impressed, gotta love a quick rooting cultivar, now I’m just gonna have to see if anyone local wants a cut since I have multiples. Hope y’all have a good Wednesday. Love to everyone
