This thread is an example of why people who like drama manage to perpetuate their shit so well. Some people are better at instigating it than others and then there are people who can’t help get sucked in. The last guy who was on the potcast, Swami?, I believe is his name ended up sounded like a whiney know it all. His tone made him sound like a ten year old school kid brat. It was actually a struggle to get through.
Matt Riot comes across similarly. I watched maybe one of the vids of his on youtube and he can be informative but then also smug at other times.
I think it helps to remember that because we all like herb, that other people that like herb are generally on a level, affable people. Which is a pretty silly assertion really.
But as this thread shows, people chime in with things they’ve read or heard or a friend told them. It really is Chinese whispers BS and really not a good or helpful use of anyone’s time. APART from people who are naturally inclined towards this type of horseshit drama. I’m being a little sweary here. I don’t mean any offence but I guarantee that some of those with opinions on here are based on hearsay.
Lastly, people are complex, it’s possible for a person to an asshole some of the time and genuine at other points. Any sort of endeavour like ganja attracts all types of people.
It had to come from somewhere…at some point someone probably worked your favorite breeders gear…your a bit reachy.

. That said, this thread isn’t meant to be about Riot’s gear (which I know some people have enjoyed some parts of) it’s about his scams and malfeasances.
So far there’s been some folks saying the posts with factual info “are not true” but with no actual information pointing to why or how that’s the case. Like I said in an earlier post, I’d love to see some info vindicating Riot but simple contradiction with nothing to back it up just doesn’t do much for me.

I don’t really have anything against Matt or really even know anything about him, and he may have some killer genetics and vast historical knowledge.
I requested to follow him on IG a few days ago, which he approved and then went on to one of my pics to talk shit about the breeder I was growing. I appreciate where he’s coming from… regarding calling that breeder out on potentially using a fake cut (if true, I don’t really know all that), but I don’t feel like he was doing it for the “good” of the community or even to inform me. Just wanted to talk shit because “that’s punk” or something. I do enjoy his and Notsodog’s podcast though, mainly for Notsodog, so I’ll deal with his bullshit but I probably won’t buy his gear, lol. Sorry, this comment doesn’t add much to the convo.
Exactly. Smug is exactly the right way to put it, IMO. Even if Riot misremembers something, he states the incorrect info very matter-of-factly and will die on that hill unless someone he respects, like Notso, Nspecta, etc., or someone who can provide a direct quote from one of those people, corrects him. And where most people would fully retract a statement once they’ve been corrected, Riot sorta twists it into something where he doesn’t admit to being wrong.
Trust but verify. Especially if it comes from someone who tries to be an entertaining news/fact source.
He has plenty of lines that are very reasonably priced, but sure, focus on the one that fits your narrative
Welcome back to og @docz ! I love how many folks who have been away for so long have been inspired by this thread to stop back in. Though, I do find it a little strange they all seem to support Matt. Anyways, hopefully one of you guys can provide some answers or explanations instead of just contradicting with no evidence or using strawmans to distract people.
@api312 the issue here is that you just didnt like what Matt had to say, so you looked up all the threads you could, and didnt bother checking how they could have been false.

Ahh, yeah, here come the expected ad hominem attacks. This actually doesn’t have anything to do with Matt’s comments on AKBB (in fact I recall AKBB supporting Matt and saying they were buds in his potcast interview.) I started this thread because a user here asked for receipts on why I said folks shouldn’t trust Matt Riot. I’d love for folks to present info on why he is to be trusted though! It really frustrates me that people I respect seem to trust him. I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on myself. But, when you read threads on how to pop a seed years after a guy claims he’s started breeding it’s tough for me to believe in him. Especially when he’s constantly hating on his competitor’s work.

If you feel he fucked you, go ahead and throw rotten tomatoes.
If you just don’t like him or how he does business, just stay away.
I prefer the peaceful solution…but I will throw tomatoes if I smell a rat.

I have not seen anything in this thread worthy of calling this guy a crook.
But I think recommending to stay away may be a fair statement.
There are some very trustwothy breeders out there, I would stick with those to be safe.
I prefer to use canned for such a thing. Ok, back to lurking
