Regs don't sell?

I’m looking forward to it. You have a good one. I’ll be back around later on.

I’m actually impressed. The small ones aren’t as expensive as I thought they’d be.

Yeah, the mini-PCR kits are cool.

That second one is 150 bucks and has gradiant capability. That’s super low cost of entry for the machine.

I like running regulars. I would say 1/3 of my summer outdoor grows are from regulars.

Sounds like the real theme is its tons of newer growers only spending 50-100 bucks on seeds, or going to dispos for clones. I grow mostly regs and some fems, but if Ive learned anything from spending years in the game, consumers aren’t notoriously well informed. And if you google “growing weed” its just endless websites with terrible SEO articles just sales funneling to junk fems. But telling people theyre very likely gonna get 50% herms anyway from the fems just makes you a hater lol

Damn expensive. I would prefer under $1 per plant.

This is the truth. This is also why dispensary don’t need headstash weed.

Just started coming around to fems myself, previously regs only

Those reagents kits are overpriced. Haven’t look in some time but pretty sure you can put together an inexpensive protocol. Farmer Freeman, and the like, are doing the PCR thing. I’d estimate half of what they charge, at most.

bodhi packs are $3.40 a seed and the best plant’s ive had.

And if you can purchase as a legit lab, a lot of times things are much much much cheaper than the consumer pricing

When it turned legal in my state is when I started indoor growing. At first it was still hard to get seeds. I would get them overseas and they were fems. My first grow indoors was so nice it got me hooked. After meeting local guys I moved to growing regular only. We had a guy who would pic up our samples and sex test them so it made it way easier.

So I think for new growers it gives them better odds of success. The plants are usually similar but my friends would say they will all herm and don’t do it. Herm’s are just a part of growing last 4 years I haven’t had many. But anyway when new growers have success they are more apt to stay with it and most will give reg’s a shot as they improve and get curious and joins some forum’s or meet people at grow shops.

I have some fems in the room right now. I needed some jars fast so they were the choice this round. Good topic

Large farms will also use fems. The amount of saved time, space of fems versus regs guarantees it

I think that Reddit and other platforms that get more new grower eyeballs tend to push fems and/or fem autos because they eliminate 1 or 2 steps in the growing process which appeals to many seed buyers. I fell for that and did only fem autos for my first grow (Barneys and Dutch Passion). Then I realized hey, hitting a few buttons on my light timer is not that hard, let’s try some photos (still fems though because that’s what you get steered towards.) And wouldn’t you know it, on my next grow I figured I can probably differentiate a few males. It wasn’t difficult and I don’t really care about the extra space/media/nutes. I’m not doing monster veg times anyway.

Following this beautiful transformation I’m pretty much team regs now. It’s just more friendly to the grower enthusiast. But I also acknowledge that I am very much not the demographic that most “commercial” seed banks are targeting so I don’t see the trend towards fems/autos stopping anytime soon. The blog on FDM seeds has a good little editorial on this if anyone wants to check that out. I found myself doing the Jack Nicholson nod as I was reading it which solidified my decision to buy some of their gear.

This is an interesting topic. Feminized seeds provide a gardener efficiency when the aim is to produce flowers. If a gardener doesn’t have plans to make seeds and utilize male plants then those male plants are more a burden than benefit.

I don’t think the majority of gardeners are making seeds or working their selections or preserving their lines. The majority of gardeners plant seeds for flower to consume and maybe keep a few elite female cuttings around.

It takes more resources to keep males around and to make seeds when most gardeners goals are for flower to consume so it’s understandable to think that female seed sales are more popular at this particular seedbank being interviewed.

In my opinion, it comes down to selections and population fitness as they relate to a gardeners goals. There are some great feminized lines and there are some great regular lines. There’s a bunch of junk that falls on both sides of the fence too! It’s about selections and population fitness as they relate to a gardeners goals.

That’s something that I really admired about BOG because he had a seed company and sold seeds but always encouraged others to make their own! He was clear about saying he didn’t want others to just knock his lines off or to use his BOG brand name to sell seeds but he encouraged hobby gardeners to make seeds from the packs they purchased. Many blessings and much love

Start seeds under 12/12 in solo cups. Males show first. They show their sex as seedlings, and move them to veg as soon as you eliminate males. After they are in a veg room any thing left .undetermined will show sex quickly.
This takes minimal space, and you don’t lose time or space because it’s not much of a reveg because the flowering continues after placed back in veg room.

It’s due to the explosion of home growers who stick to plant limits

Why fuck with weeding out males when I can have guaranteed sensi and only have 2-6 plants to work with? :man_shrugging:t2:

Also I think more & more people are starting to realize that fems, if bred correctly, are at NO additional risk of herms over their reg counterparts

As far as plant counts, you don’t get busted for seedlings or even vegging plants.
Plant counts means you’re in a legal state.
Swat team ain’t going to bust down your door in a legal state because you went over your plant count in your tent.
