Sour Diesel Thread

It came from elemental wellness in San Jose , I also picked up the purple Hindu Kush while I was there , I’m hoping there both the same as what I grew many years ago.

Wondering what makes it not worth growing again ?

Also for anyone who smoked or better grew the Sour Diesel at least a decade ago( or today Diesel if you didn’t try back then, list what year you talking about so we know when ?)did it have a lemony taste in that Diesel Skunk Funk to you , or all Diesel Skunk Funk no Lemon ?

I also grabbed both of those cuts from Elemental this year :fist_right:t2::fist_left:t2:and another sour D cut from Haze to compare the 2 :dash:
And I grabbed the Blue Nerds, White Runtz, and SSH!

And if you think twice about it, the grade of the weed was more relying on the sturdiness of the genetics. I just remember an old setup to say this : T8s array to flower the weed, and cheap gardenning low-release pellets for the food of the entire life of the plant lol

If it’s obviously not the main factor, I think that it’s not an innocent leverage at all.

Just jumping on this to share a concern.

Everybody say that the Cheese have to smell cheesy to be genuine. For a French, the Cheese smell like rotten thyme used in meridional cooking. And absolutely not like our half-hundred cheeses. Absolute statement can be dangerous and lure inexperienced people to hunt the bad thing, it’s my point there.

As the SD, forcing the referential that pass it for an lemoney OGK smoke … not sure on the strategy. If people start to hunt a “fruity lemon” weed like the GHS Lemon Skunk or the Lemon G … as SD, it’s going to be a pure shit show.

I understand what’s described, but please people go smoke a JH nugget at amsterdam or a LemonG nugget to realize what it mean to “document” that the SD is a lemoney smoke. Even an OGK with its light hues is 300% more fruity that a SD.

I prefer to speak about a low PH of a smoke, an acidity, the acid dryness of racing fuels in palate and nose … i don’t know but all but a yellow Sicilian lemon ^^

Just a counterweight to temperate the “Lemon Skunk = SD” … like the anthocyanins supposed to never show even in progeny ^^

Just to be clear i dont think any lemon at all , but alot of people say that these days so wanted to know people’s opinions

And my Diesel work is all Skunky Gas Diesel, no lemon or lime terp Diesel at all unless mixed with a Lemon/Lime Haze

Just gotta be careful with those spots. Not to blow up their shit, but I used to vend to both of those dispos, and they renamed anything to any ol name, back when in the day at least. Hopefully they got a legit clone source these days! But when I was sellin em grips of wax, it was just rename everything to what was popular that month. Its a longshot to expect any dispo to be honest about names.

Ive also never seen a real Sour D cut at a dispo. I got it from warehouse growers in santa cruz/SF. Only because we had mutual friends, and even then, it was a pain in the ass to get a flat.

Yeah I got there blueberry and chem d last year and they both grew and looked correct but lacked any decent terps.
Sour diesal , purple sour diesal and nycdiesal were all available at the clubs many years ago on a pretty regular basis but there were way more clone vendors pre prop 64 screwing everything up in California. Now it’s all random gelato, cookies and supposed kush crosses that rotate faster the a merry go round.
@WeTokeChronic have you grown either out to the finish line yet ?

Oh yea I grew the chems and diesels back in the day (1st year I grew those was 2006) and honestly was never a huge Sour Diesel or Chem guy (I’m all about that Linalool and Myrcene terps) but maybe because what @BackyardBoogie420 said I bet! Could have been a fake back then :man_shrugging:

Back then cannabis clubs would give you a cut of something marked Sour D and it was really Sour OG… now they can’t do that. Everything is tracked. But I’m still not a huge fan of gas/fuel terps and with all the talk about how the real Sour D has been lost I’ve always stayed away… Until this year! Lol got two cuts from two clubs to compare :seedling: :seedling: :face_with_monocle:

@Heritagefarms bro! We grow a lot of the same cuts  I just grew that original Blueberry last season from them too… and crossed it with (London Jealousy x Frosted Altoids) mine was grown organically in the backyard and had some good blueberry smells just was a stubborn/unforgiving plant

Yeah the sour diesal we grew that I liked had a tangy herbal bright almost candy flavor very similar to mk ultra I used to grow prior to that…. Descriptions differ so much between people though.
Who knows what was what but I have more hopes for the purple Hindu Kush but got the sour just in case , I know what ever I grew back then was not this aj diesal that is going around , I’ve grown that multiple times and am not a fan.

That is a confusing post , sour diesel is a genetic line not a pheno you can hunt out of any thing you choose or feel is likely related.

Some SD porn, day 67. Flowers start to get their ridiculous caliber. I def screwed the pruning, too much stems. Let’s cross the fingers for the two next weeks.

It’s not obvious but this one is seeded with three other sisters ^^ Let’s try to BX this bitch.

Update : again i forgot to identify the stuff … let’s have fun with the strict truth.

Initially “untagged”
found sold as “SD90”
now sold as “1st Edition NY”
aka “soprano’s sd” aka “cloney’s sd”
lmao

… this only for a cut no one talk about in podcasts. It give an idea of the funk for the fresh meat.

You can totally get similar terps or bud structure but please don’t label your cross as sour d. That would be frustratingly misleading to your audience.

Not saying you can’t find a great pheno just the labeling is not appropriate
