I will gladly take Washington Skunk seeds if you have any lol. It does have real skunk, did you get the purple phenotype or the Golf ball thrower?
That strain has a long breeding history, i decided to keep working them up for years, I found the skunk and it took a lot of work to get the results i have now.
I almost gave up then it surfaced last year. Then i took Uncle Festers Skunk 18 seeds and croseed into Washington Skunk,
And i also hunted @misterbee WS18 seeds sent. And WS and UFS18, includijg my UFS18, Its been a long collaboration and any more Washington Skunk seeds would be cool to get…
Next year the big final breeding process may happen to eecured a great new Skunk line.
One cool feature of Washington Skunk is, they may smell grassy yeck all season, then the last weeks a huge killer skunked experience.
It was a dwarf golf ball thrower, the purple phenotype had the car full skunk smell from bringing a bag on a ride lol
There are many expressions in Washington Skunk. I don’t think it can be stablized no time soon, and the original creators tried themselves.
Wow seeds direct from Afghanistan in the 70’s , man id love to grow that back then.
Sorry if you answered this already but its rare to get first hand people who actually run the legit Afghan from 70’s , but what if any strains of today are anywhere close to that wall pentrating Skunk you run back then ?
Also if you or your crew are interested id love to send some of my loudest seeds to you to check out and see if even 1/10 as loud as that 70’s Skunk you guys run.
Either way from 1 grower to another , i cant imagine the stink they had and reminds me of the 1st ever skunk we see/smell/smoked around 93
CGOG, Thanks for the interest in this subject. I’ve been SOOO disappointed in my Skunk search for the 70’s Skunk my friend brought back from Afghanistan. I would love to grow out any seeds you might have. I have recently heard of a strong Skunk smell in the state of Washington, but no verification of this on my end.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again , nobody is ever going to find skunk bud in skunk#1 seeds , maybe the old super skunk line but in reality you need to cross afghan , prob Kandahar with columbian and possibly back to the Afghan once.
Also I believe the true skunk bud profile comes out with time after harvest.
Most people smoke really fresh herb now or super boof club weed. In the old days it was a lot more common for stuff to get split up several times before it got to your local guy.
I have a strain that when first finished smells of skunk and some type of fruity acrid smell similar to white grapes or some type of fruit cereal. After about 8 months in proper storage the fruitiness goes away and it’s left with a sour skunky dank smell and taste. If you have anything close to skunk but with something else there , it may need to cure for 6-8 months before showing its true self.
Most strains are losing quality at the time frame but some stay good past the year mark , it’s not common but truly special when they do
Although a lot of the stuff from back then had a long cure and brought out a different profile i want to say the skunk i got a few times was really fresh. Some of those elites were presold and gone before they could even get a proper dry. I agree aint nobody finding “Stinky Skunk” in SK1, it definitely needs to be backcrossed to some middle eastern strain and so on.
Yes elites like og kush and bubba were originally grown in small supply but skunk buds were grown in huge quantity in Northern California for many years, depending on were you were and how close to a grower you or your connect was some super fresh stuff could be had but the majority of people got herb that had been sold several times already before it got to them.
Ive grown out some sour stomper seeds from mephisto (seeds from 2021) and both seeds had a nauseatingly strong skunk spray odor that came about in the final weeks of flower. Its always interesting to me the genetics these terps end up resurfacing.
Besides those two plants, the other skunky plants ive grown have ended up developing the funk more in cure. Usually after 2-3 months.
CG, To be honest I have not seen ANYTHING that comes close to the 70’s Skunk ! Venom OG, I was told by a guy that was there in the 70’s was close. He wasn’t a grower, but a good friend of the guy that went to Afghanistan, They were roommates back then.
