Bodhi Plant and seed guide (Part 2)

I think the issue is exactly this - the people who spend all day releasing the same gsc remixes are doing it for the profit trying to capitalize off of name / hype as opposed to doing it with intention and passion. I can think of a handful of decent “real” gsc crosses made by well intentioned actual breeders (chile verde being a nice one) but this is by far the exception as opposed to the rule for these releases. The vast majority of gsc crosses available are done seemingly thoughtlessly by self proclaimed “breeders.”

Most breeders I have respect for all agree that the appeal of gsc is mostly in its hype and bag appeal, and, personally, having smoked various cuts of gsc for 10 years since I moved to the bay area in 2012, I tend to agree.

Sure, there is definitely lots of cash grabbers out there. Only thing to do there is choose with your wallet… no one buys them, people will stop making them. Even Bodhi has some GSC crosses…

Like it or not GSC isn’t going away. Lots of people obviously do like it, even if for the wrong reasons. For me its a short lived dull stupid high, but I do kinda like the taste, and very photogenic plants… What’s weird is I really like Durban Poison too, I should like GSC :man_shrugging:

It gets a bad wrap, I guess, but I think I just view it as another tool in the toolbox… if you want to use it, great, it’s there… if not, no one is forcing you to.

Here are quick & dirty Youtube transcripts of both episodes 10 and 10.5 with bodhi. It’s not super user friendly, but should be searchable.

Awesome! Thanks so much, I saw in an old post you had started to do it

Of course durban is thrown around a ton in regards to the lineage of gsc but I really don’t see its influence in it. If it’s there at all (which i kinda doubt) it’s been bread away from it entirely.

As a former south african i can attest to that

Yeah, not claiming I know, just going on what info is out there. I don’t think anyone really knows, just like all the really classic cuts, haha.

Yeah, all I can say is organoleptically the plant presents itself as a hindu / afghan / kush variety with little to no NLD influences in morphology, taste, smell, effect etc

I think you’re right though - I doubt anyone knows, even the guys who “bread” it lol

edit: One thing I would add though lineage wise - i think it clearly has urkle in it because of the runty ogkb phenos. That mutation comes from the urkle cut and is passed down to tons of different modern crosses that have gsc in it.

Not sure, but if they were on GLG I would have bought them probably as that is a cross that sounds good to me on paper at least. My thoughts were more if there is are Lemon Thai female(s) being explored why not dust with Goji pollen if it’s available? Feels like a waste not to do it. Have you tried Black Triangle yet, and if so how does Golden Triangle x 88g13hp differ in your experience? BT, Space Monkey, and Devil’s HP all will hopefully get dusted at some point as well. Thanks for the input as well as to everyone else who responded!

Yeah, I know most of the people who’s opinions I trust when it comes to genetics seriously doubt Durban is apart of the lineage, or at least any kind of significant part.

I think if I remember right, on his potcast Nspecta said the the purple urkle S1s held some things that were pretty similar to what he sees in GSC………

Yup, I think he’s definitely on to it there. Like I said above the mutations in ogkb etc means urkle has to at least make up a portion of it’s lineage.

True that. Good point. However,

Exactly. So quit trying to make them into seed-form or whatever. Unless you’re (not “you,” holyangel, just whoever) gonna actually work the line and take it multiple generations, just leave it be. Appreciate that one plant for what it is. You’re never gonna be able to create a stable seed line from something that came from a polyhybrid anyway.

At least you (and I am talking about you now, @HolyAngel haha) do work and real breeding. Most of these people…. blahblahblah and on and on. I’ve already said all this a billion times haha.

So do I haha. I mean, I’m not breeding, so why not keep them all? Especially considering the gawd-awful male/female ratios I’ve been getting for the past few years. I’m just glad I actually ended up with a female, not gonna toss her just because she’s a little scrawny.

They’ve got passion. It’s a passion for money haha… And maybe Instagram fame. Is that a thing?

Yeah, nothing even remotely similar (that I can tell) between Durban and GSC. One’s really good weed and one sucks haha.

there was a reason DP was sold in thin sticks like thai sticks in the 80ies the buds were pretty pathetic

Oh, okay, yeah, I dunno if they were sent to GLG, but I’m like 99% certain that the Goji Razz/Lemon Thai cross was on one of the recent emails. It does sound like a good cross. Goji x Lemon Thai, can’t go wrong with that, probably. Which is probably why Doc already did it haha. But fuck yeah, dude, you should make your own cross! Why not? You’ve got the seeds, you’ve got the pollen…

There’s a reason why I never posted a Black Triangle smoke report at the end of that log. It made my bones hurt. For real, it made me feel arthritic (and I’m not arthritic. Yet…). My hands, feet and forearms would really hurt every time I smoked it. I dunno what that’s about, but I did not like it at all. Ended up giving all of it to my girl Jo as a going-away present when she moved last month. She really liked it. A lot of people did, but I wasn’t into the way it made me feel at all. The “head” was good, I liked the way it made me think, but the physical part was super-uncomfortable for me.

It’s crazy you say that about the high @minitiger there was strain I tried many years ago called dynamite from a dispensary in Denver 3-D I believe it was called. Anyways after smoking that shit it made my legs hurt n body feel really uncomfortable . It’s the only strain that’s ever done that to me and I never told anyone until now kuz that shits embarrassing. I wonder what that high is all about or why it does that.

Also I’ve tried black triangle n that shit is fire! Black Pepper OG all day n perfect for ending the day.

Why? Because people might laugh at you and be like,”Haha! He can’t hold his smoke!”? Fuck them. Don’t be embarrassed. This isn’t a competition…

Yeah, all of my friends really liked it, except for my boy Evan, who’s opinion I trust the most re: weed things. He didn’t say it made his bones hurt or anything haha, but he was just kinda like,”Eh…” I dunno. Everybody’s cannabinoid receptors are different.

He also said that he really enjoys gsc on that podcast, which surprised me based on all the negative feelings people have on OG.

Ha that’s exactly why @minitiger I feel like everyone would think I’m lying or whatever so I just kept it to myself. Glad to know I’m not alone. Wonder how many others have felt that weird aching high?

I bet there’s lots of us that have felt that before from some strains. I got physical discomfort and unpleaseant effects from bodhi’s Barefoot Doctor (harlequin x ssdd) and talk about it in my review here:

But I haven’t felt that again from any other strains. I didn’t get it from Good Medicine (harlequin x appalachia), if anything it was the opposite, so it must’ve been specific to that barefoot doctor strain.

Really strange to hear your experience with the Black Triangle @minitiger - I think you’re the first person I’ve ever seen post a negative review of that one. But, I’m glad to hear your honest experience.
